Jurandir Picanço Júnior, Energy Consultant, FIEC - Federação das Indústrias do Estado do Ceará

Jurandir Picanço Júnior is a Mechanical Engineer and Electrician. A member of the Ceará’s Academy of Engineering, he works as energy consultant for FIEC (Ceará’s Federation of Industries). He was President of COELCE (Ceará’s Energy Company), has headed Ceará’s Science and Technology Office, has been a member of CHESF’s board, the President of ARCE (Ceará’s Regulatory Agency), a lecturer on Electrical Engineering at UFC and the President of CSRenováveis/CE (Ceará’s Sectorial Chamber on Renewable Energies). In those active roles, he has always kept a connection with renewable energies, and was one of those directly responsible for helping Ceará in its first initiatives to develop wind and solar energy projects and, more recently, green hydrogen projects.

Sérgio Augusto Costa, Founder and Executive President, Brazilian Association of Hydrogen and Sustainable Fuel

Sérgio Augusto Costa is Founder and President of the Brazilian AssociaVon of Hydrogen and Sustainable Fuels (ABHIC), Founder and CEO of VILCO Energias Renováveis and Founder and Managing Director of EMD Brasil. Graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) and with specializations in M&A from the New York Insstiute of Finance (NYIF) and in Renewable Energy Regulation from the Florence School of Regulation (FSR), the executive has around 20 years of experience experience in the electrical sector, specifically in the energy generation sector.
Throughout his career, Costa worked in several engineering and consultancy companies, manufacturers of hydroelectric turbines and public service concessionaires, such as Voith Hydro, Eletrosul/Eletrobras, Tractebel/ENGIE and Engevix. In addition, he was a member of the Board of Directors of the Brazilian Association of Small Hydroelectric Power Plants and Hydroelectric Generating Plants (ABRAPCH), Vice-President, Cofounder and member of the Board of Directors of the Brazilian Association of Waste Energy Recovery (ABREN).

According to the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy(MNRE), at the end of June 2023, India's total renewable energy installed capacity stood at about 130 GW, of which 70 GW was solar. India set itself a target of 280 GW of solar capacity by 2030, and this would mean that India has to install another 30 GW every year for the next 7 years to meet the target. In this session, experts from the Government and Industry will discuss about the means to achieve the ambitious goal of 280 GW of solar capacity by 2030 and what are the headwinds and tailwinds from a solar project development perspective.
