Everything as a Grid

Dirk Kaisers, Segment Leader Distributed Energy Management EMEA, Eaton Electric

With full electrification and digitization, the economy will become even more dependent on reliable electricity supply. At the same time, as the share of variable renewables increases, electricity generation will become more erratic and unpredictable. This will require a grid that acts as more than a mere distributor of power.

Keynote Speech: Beyond Covid-19 – the Outlook for Energy Storage

Yayoi Sekine, Head of Decentralized Energy, BloombergNEF

Energy storage will multiply exponentially in the coming decades, from 11GW/21GWh in 2019 to more than 1,095GW/2,850GWh by 2040. Despite some disruption caused by Covid-19, the market is strong and will continue to grow over coming years. Lithium-ion battery prices have fallen by 87% over the past decade and by 2024 BloombergNEF expects prices to fall below $100/kWh. Falling prices and increasing flexibility needs to meet the low-carbon system of the future will further unlock economic opportunities for stationary storage. Join the session to hear the latest energy storage outlook.
