Challenges of Low-Cost Hydrogen Production

Free Webinar

Tuesday, May 12, 2026 | 11:00am–12:00pm CET | Webinar language: English

Within the transition to a climate-friendly energy system, hydrogen has emerged as a central element of decarbonization strategies. Looking ahead, hydrogen is expected to play a crucial role in decarbonizing hard-to-abate sectors, including steel production, high-temperature industrial processes, long-distance transport and energy storage. Accordingly, global demand is expected to be driven by political and regulatory support, not by market demand that has already fully developed. Despite ambitious political goals, the rollout of hydrogen projects has progressed more slowly than expected, revealing a persistent gap between aspiration and implementation.

Against this backdrop, this webinar examines the current state of the hydrogen market, explores the key drivers of future demand and identifies the main barriers to large-scale deployment. While the analysis focuses on Europe, it also takes into account the increasingly important international dimension of hydrogen supply and trade.

At the webinar, you will also learn more about the Hydrogen Dialogue Summit, which is taking place for the first time this year at The smarter E Europe.

Together with our webinar guest Joshua Fragoso Garcia, we’ll take a look at the following topics and aspects of the hydrogen economy:

  • The future role and applications of hydrogen
  • Challenges in producing low-emission hydrogen
  • Blue, gray, and green hydrogen costs
  • Successful, cost-effective international hydrogen projects

Who should attend?

The webinar is aimed at executives from the steel and chemical industries, production and technical managers, energy suppliers and municipal utilities, project developers in the hydrogen and renewable energy sectors, companies in the heavy-duty, maritime, and aviation sectors, policymakers, investors, and banks.
