More than 40 years of experience in energy efficiency, renewable energy, and climate change.

He currently works as an independent professional. At the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), he served as Senior Energy Specialist, responsible for the IDB’s operations with Mexico’s energy sector and supporting energy efficiency initiatives in other countries across Latin America and the Caribbean. Previously, he was Deputy Director of Programs at the Trust for Electric Energy Savings (FIDE), where he also served as General Director. He was Vice President of Operations and Director of Operations for Mexico and Central America at MGM Innova, Deputy General Director for Climate Change Projects at SEMARNAT, Vice President of Operations at MGM International, and Head of the Energy Planning Division at the Mexican Petroleum Institute.

He served as President of the Association of Technicians and Professionals in Energy Applications, board member of the Credit Union for Energy Efficiency and of the Mexican Climate Initiative, and member of the Technical Committee of the Alliance for Energy Equity.

He holds a degree in Economics from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), completed postgraduate studies in Energy Economics and Planning at Fundación Bariloche in Argentina, and earned a Master’s degree in Hydrocarbon Administration and Economics from the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN).

Ana Magdalena Sotomayor,
Co-founder Talaso Consulting

Ana Magdalena Sotomayor is co-founder of Talaso Consulting, a firm dedicated to supporting companies in the design and implementation of comprehensive energy strategies through a continuous improvement methodology. This structured approach covers everything from initial diagnostics and detailed analysis to the evaluation of energy efficiency projects, energy procurement and tendering, as well as the assessment of generation and cogeneration projects, with the ultimate goal of aligning with and achieving clients’ sustainability, financial, and operational objectives.

Her core expertise lies in renewable energy procurement through the structuring of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs and VPPAs), energy market analysis, and sustainability performance measurement aligned with international reporting standards. Throughout her distinguished career in leadership positions at companies such as Porcelanite-Lamosa and Forvia, she has demonstrated an exceptional ability to generate multimillion-dollar savings while advancing decarbonization goals. Among her most notable achievements is the management of a global energy procurement portfolio valued at approximately USD 300 million, as well as the negotiation of energy and industrial gas contracts that resulted in annual savings of USD 1.5 million and significant reductions in carbon intensity.

Ana complements her executive experience with a strong academic background, having completed a Master’s degree in Sustainability and obtained a certification in Energy Efficiency for the process industry in Japan. She is a bilingual professional who actively participates in industry organizations, establishing herself as an expert voice and strategic leader who integrates data analysis, contract negotiation, and sustainability frameworks to create long-term financial and environmental value.

Manuel Gómez,
Executive Director AMIF

Manuel Gómez holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from ITESO University in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, and has 30 years of experience in areas related to energy and its efficient use. He served as Head of Public Lighting for the municipality of Zapopan, Jalisco, and also as Project Director at Menchaca y Asociados, a company awarded the National Energy Saving Award for the Santiago Ixcuintla, Nayarit public lighting project.

He developed operational and energy efficiency assessments and projects for public lighting services in 30 municipalities across the states of Nuevo León, Querétaro, Nayarit, Zacatecas, and Jalisco. He was also part of the executive team of a highly respected electrical infrastructure construction company in western Mexico and worked as an independent consultant in energy efficiency and renewable energy generation.

Since 2019, he has served as Executive Director of the Mexican Photovoltaic Industry Association (AMIF).
