One solar market performed with a particularly high growth rate: Romania grew by 2.5 gigawatts (GW) in 2025—an increase of 45 percent compared to 2024! Michael Schmela is the CEO and founder of TaiyangNews, a digital technology news platform for the solar industry. From December 2015 to December 2017, he was Executive Advisor to the first Chairman of the Global Solar Council (GSC), the global PV association founded during COP21 in Paris. Schmela has been active in the solar industry for over 25 years. After co-founding Photon Publishing in 1996, he held various positions within the Photon Group for over a decade, primarily as editor-in-chief of Photon International.
